On May 5, Guy Dean, CEO of Coastal Nations Fisheries -- along with Trevor Russ, Director of Policy and Programs for Coastal First Nations, and Howie Wright, Executive Director of the Ha'oom Fisheries Society -- were called to testify in front of the Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans to "Examine and report on the commercial licensing regime on Canada's Pacific Coast."

We believe that to support an enduring, effective industry, vibrant coastal economies and successful ongoing Indigenous reconciliation, the benefits of seafood harvested within BC’s commercial fisheries need to flow through working harvesters, First Nations and the coastal communities that we live and work in. For that to happen, policy needs to change.
