Request for Proposals: Sablefish Quota

Coastal Nations Commercial Fishing (CNCF) is seeking proposals to lease out quota for Sablefish: J-Cut, 20,000 lb Increments.

The following principals will be used to assess bids:

• Shareholder Nations fishers will be given preference

• Shareholder Nations or shareholder Nation’s fishers owned commercial vessels will be given preference

• Required certifications must be up to date

• Vessel must be seaworthy

• WorkSafe (WCB) coverage is mandatory

• Experience with species is necessary

• Mentoring fishers is encouraged

• Confirmation is needed of who will be paying the lease fee

• Sub-leasing is prohibited

Please Note: all bids will be presented to the CNCF Selection committee for review. The Board will select the successful bids. It may take up to 2 weeks to determine successful bids after submission deadline. All bidders will be notified by email of the success or failure of their bids and will have an opportunity to discuss the results with Aaron Murray. (Bids offering to add a dollar amount above the highest bid will be rejected without notification). CNCF may seek other proposals or pursue other options at their sold discretion.

The steps to obtain temporary quota or licence are:

1. Complete and submit a Temporary Licence and/or Quota Bid Form

2. Receive confirmation and approval of bid by CNCF Selection committee

3. Lease Agreement to be signed by the party paying the lease fee

4. Lease Agreement signed by CNCF General Manager. Final copy sent to applicant.

5. DFO or NOLS Submission (allow 10 days processing by DFO)

6. Confirmation from DFO received

7. Submit proof of payment to CNCF

8. Amendments & Confirmations issued to the fisher from CNCF
